The round of 16 open draw for the Tobago Football Association FA Cup produced several mouth-watering matchups. The draw took place in the Lecture Room of the Dwight Yorke Stadium last Monday.
The youthful Bertille St. Clair Sports Academy and the long-standing St. Clair’s Coaching School promise to deliver a must-see affair, set to take place on September 12th at a venue yet to be determined. Tobago Updates Sports caught up with a representative of Bertille St. Clair Sports Academy, Stephon Anthony-Bing, who stated that they are prepared and ready to challenge for the title.
Eastern giants Sidey’s FC and Belle Garden Sports Club will clash on the 12th in another enticing matchup, forming the second part of a double header at the Cyd Gray Sporting Complex. Hilton Burris of Belle Garden expressed confidence despite their previous loss to Sidey’s in the league.
The earlier game will be contested between Bethel United and Charlotteville. The tournament is set to kick off on Sunday with a double header at the Dwight Yorke Stadium and a match at Shaw Park. At the Stadium, Georgia FC will meet the 2017 champions Black Rock United at 4:30, and Stokely Vale will battle against Calder Hall FC at 6:30. At Shaw Park, Leeds United and Signal Hill will square off at 4:30.
Closing out the round of 16 matches will be Roxborough Lakers versus Carnbee/Mt Pleasant and the reigning league champions, 1976 FC Phoenix, versus Golden Lane. Both games will be played at the Dwight Yorke Stadium on September 15th. President of the TFA, Kenny Alfred, is expecting an interesting tournament.
Teams will be competing for $33,000.00 in cash prizes along with trophies and medals. The final is scheduled for October 6th.
