Eat Local

Deputy Chief Secretary and Secretary of Health, Wellness, and Social Protection Dr. Faith B.Yisrael urges Tobagonians to invest in eating local food to help assist with the food  shortages due to the Cabo Star currently not in operation.

The MV Cabo Star caught fire after leaving the port of Scarborough on Wednesday, August 23rd. The Cabo Star is a roll-on/roll-off ship used to transfer cargo between the islands, which also carries food supplies between Trinidad and Tobago. Dr. Faith B.Yisrael states our shelves are suffering. The Deputy Chief Secretary stated that TADCO has capitalised on its resources to meet Tobagonians’ needs in the midst of the disruption.

The Deputy Chief Secretary stated food for exports is not the current situation as it is one where there are many food resources available but citizens do not have the appetite for such. A temporary solution to assist with the transportation of cargo is currently being implemented by the Port Authority of Trinidad and Tobago.
