PDP leader Watson Duke welcomes CARICOM election observers but calls for transparency in their selection.
Scarborough, Tobago – The Progressive Democratic Patriots’ (PDP) political leader, Watson Duke, has welcomed the government’s intention to invite CARICOM election observers to the 2025 general elections. However, he expressed skepticism about whether the observers would be impartial in their assessments.
Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley announced in Parliament yesterday that he would be inviting CARICOM observers for the elections, a request the opposition had previously made but which he had denied in previous election cycles. Duke acknowledged that while the invitation is a noble and commendable step, he hopes that those selected are not sympathetic to the PNM.
