Trinidad and Tobago has secured the license for the Dragon gas deal, marking a major milestone in enhancing energy security and boosting the economy. Energy Minister Stuart Young signed the final documents in Caracas, enabling natural gas from Venezuela’s Dragon maritime field to flow to Trinidad and Tobago. Prime Minister Rowley celebrated the achievement, emphasizing the door to a new commercial frontier. The Dragon deal, a $1 billion agreement signed in 2018, was initially hindered by US sanctions on Venezuela. With the sanctions lifted, the Dragon gas field is expected to produce around 150 million standard cubic feet of gas daily, benefiting both nations.
