Dennis Warns: Tobago Livelihoods Depend On Regional Stability

September 23, 2025- PNM Tobago Council Political Leader Ancil Dennis is calling for calm amid rising tensions between Venezuela and the United States, which also involve Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar.

In a Facebook video released on the nation’s 49th Republic Day, Dennis urged diplomacy, respect for sovereignty, and a commitment to peace, stressing that Tobago’s future and economic security depend on regional stability. “We are friends of all and satellites of none,” he declared.

Dennis also criticised the Prime Minister, accusing her administration of shifting Trinidad and Tobago from principled diplomacy to reckless provocation. He further questioned the silence of THA Chief Secretary Farley Augustine, suggesting that Augustine has aligned himself with the Prime Minister’s position.

The opposition leader warned that the livelihoods of many Tobagonians rely heavily on maintaining good relations across the region.
