Demerit System Overhauled: Trinidad & Tobago Refines Road Safety Penalties

This key legislative update was announced yesterday by the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Eli Zakour.

The government has officially approved amendments to the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Act (48:50), Ninth Schedule Order 2025. These changes signal a strategic refinement in the government’s ongoing efforts to improve driving standards and promote greater responsibility on the nation’s roadways.
