Demerit Points System Overhauled, Free Programme Introduced for Disqualified Drivers
The government has eliminated demerit points for the majority of traffic violations. Speaking at the post-Cabinet briefing on July 31st, Transport Minister Eli Zakur announced that, effective July 13th, demerit points have been removed for all but six criminal traffic offences. In addition, a free rehabilitation programme is being introduced for disqualified drivers.
