Cox Shines At Aquathalon

National triathlete Jacob Cox stood out in Sunday’s first-ever Black Rock Aquathlon event held at the YMCA Swimming Pool in Courland. Beginning as a strong favorite in the swim and run event, Cox emerged victorious in the Boys 16-22 age group, with Sebastian Winter-Roach and Shellon Cunningham securing second and third places, respectively.

Cox was later honored with the award for the most outstanding junior athlete of the year from his XO Club. The XO Club also nominated Cox for the First Citizens Junior Athlete of the Year. In other results, coaches Rochelle Pierre and Mosi Denoon claimed victory in the over 23 category, while Alexis Douglas secured first place in the Girls 16-22 category.

In the 13-15 age group, Jaliyah Celestine and Pierce Dalton-Brown earned gold medals, and in the 10-12 age group, Isabella Camacho and Alexander Farnum were the first to cross the finish line. The 10-12 age group covered a distance of a 200m swim and a 1k run, the 13-15 group completed a 400m swim and a 2k run, and the 16-22 age group, along with the 23 and over, undertook a 600m swim and a 3k run.
