Coral Bleaching Recovery Noted at Mt. Irvine Reef in Tobago, Says IMA

I.M.A. observes recovery from coral bleaching happening in reefs around Mt. Irvine.

Scarborough, Tobago – June 13, 2024 – The Institute of Marine Affairs (IMA) has reported encouraging signs of recovery at the reef near Mt. Irvine in Tobago. This positive development follows previous observations of coral bleaching on the nearby Buccoo Reef.

Conducting their annual reef survey, the IMA noted these encouraging developments during their recent visit to Mt. Irvine. The findings offer a glimmer of hope for the resilience of Tobago’s coral reefs in the face of environmental challenges, particularly after periods of heat stress that lead to bleaching events.
