Scarborough, Tobago – Construction has officially begun on the first phase of a program designed to provide Social Affordable Housing Units in Tobago. The project is being undertaken by the Division of Settlements, Public Utilities, and Rural Development in the Heights of Blemhiem.
Secretary Ian Pollard was on site as the land was being cleared, making way for the new housing development. The construction contract for this significant initiative has been awarded to EJ Enterprises Ltd. Secretary Pollard anticipates that the first home will be ready for occupancy within thirty-five days, marking rapid progress on the project.
Families have already been selected to occupy these homes upon their completion, addressing a critical need for affordable housing among Tobagonians. This project represents the first of its kind to be directly executed by the Division, signifying a major step in their efforts to provide sustainable and accessible housing solutions on the island.
