THA DAY 3 OIL SPILL EFFORTS

On Friday (February 9th), Chief Secretary Hon. Farley Augustine updated members of the media about efforts to treat with the oil spill following the overturning of a vessel on Wednesday (February 7th).

The Chief Secretary was joined by THA officials, and other stakeholders, who are leading the clean-up. During the press conference, the Chief Secretary stated several of the stakeholders are collaborating on the clean-up efforts. He said the THA was monitoring various developments including the tide and wind changes affecting the sea. In dealing with the disaster, rehabilitation efforts would also have to be initiated to protect the island’s wildlife.
