Difficulties in securing confirmed flights to Tobago forced multiple postponements of two outstanding games in Tier 2 of the Trinidad and Tobago Premier Football League.
Tobago’s Bethel United, currently at the bottom of the table, has outstanding home matches against Guaya United and Petit Valley/Diego Martin United. Both games must be completed before the Tier 2 Big Six playoffs commence later this month. Guaya’s match was recently rescheduled for August 31, only to be postponed once again.
FC Phoenix, Queen’s Park, T&T Police, and San Fernando Giants have all secured their spots in the Big 6, while any two of the remaining team; Harlem Strikers, Petit Valley/Diego Martin United, and Guaya United may complete the top six, depending on the outcome of the final two league matches.
Meanwhile, the draw for the Tobago Football Association FA Cup’s round of 16 was held on Monday at the Lecture Room of the Dwight Yorke Stadium. Black United secured their spot as the last team, defeating FC Goodwood 4-2 in yesterday’s sole match at the Moriah Recreation Ground. Among the teams set to compete starting on September 10th are last year’s league champions, 1976 FC Phoenix, Sidey’s FC, Stokely Vale, and Roxborough Lakers. This year’s tournament offers $33,000 in cash prizes.
