Boat Regatta on Independence Day

Independence Day in Trinidad and Tobago took on an extra special flair this year with a vibrant Boat Regatta held against Scarborough’s picturesque waterfront. The event showcased a diverse array of vessels competing across various categories, including zesser class, pirogue class (divided into 65-90 horsepower and 250 horsepower groups), and power class with 150 horsepower engines.

For the Tobago Boat Racing Association, hosting this unique event on Independence Day was a significant achievement. President Kelvon Charles expressed his delight at the event’s success, with plans to make it an annual tradition.

Spectators along the shoreline were treated to an exciting display of skill as boats like “Armed and Dangerous,” captained by Kioma Taylor, raced through the waters. The Boat Regatta was more than just a celebration; it served as a powerful reminder of unity, creativity, and the resilience that stems from togetherness, highlighting the nation’s strength on this important day.
