Blue Wave Harmony Missing From March Schedule; Roxborough Secondary Closed for Fumigation

February 20, 2026 — Tobago faces a dual wave of disruption today as the island’s primary cargo vessel hits another snag and a major secondary school is forced to shut its doors for health reasons.

Sea Bridge Uncertainty: Blue Wave Harmony Missing from March Schedule

Frustration is mounting among Tobago’s business community as the MV Blue Wave Harmony remains noticeably absent from the recently released March sailing schedule. Despite resuming “structured sea trials” on February 10 following hull repairs, the vessel failed to depart the Port of Port of Spain at its scheduled 9:30 PM time yesterday, leaving dozens of truckers stranded with perishable goods.

Chief Secretary Farley Augustine stated today that Tobagonians’ patience is “running thin.” While Minister of Works and Infrastructure Jearlean John described the latest delay as “not abnormal” for a vessel in its commissioning phase, the lack of a firm March schedule has sparked fears of a prolonged cargo crisis. The administration is reportedly sticking to a March 1 deadline for the commencement of full commercial operations, though no contingency plans have been made public should further technical issues arise.

Roxborough Secondary School Shuts for Professional Fumigation

In East Tobago, classes were abruptly cancelled today at Roxborough Secondary School. Principal Arlon James issued an urgent notice to parents confirming that the seaside compound on Bloody Bay Road would be closed to facilitate a professional fumigation exercise.

Officials from the Division of Health, Wellness and Social Protection were on-site earlier today to oversee the process. While the specific nature of the infestation was not disclosed, the school administration emphasized that the closure was a proactive measure to ensure the safety and comfort of the student body and staff. Parents are advised to monitor school communiqués for an official reopening date, expected early next week.
