Bishops High School Students Share Their Experience Winning The National Secondary School Debate
Scarborough, Tobago – January 2024 – Bishop’s High School from Tobago has emerged as the triumphant winner of the Land Settlements Agency (LSA) National Secondary School Debate competition. This significant victory showcases the exceptional debating talent cultivated on the sister isle.
Under the guidance of teacher Kyana John-Blackman, the winning team comprised students Melique Charles, Soheila Makoul, Klavier Simpson, and Tayshaun Joseph. Klavier Simpson distinguished herself by earning the title of Most Outstanding Debater in the series. The Tobago team surpassed formidable finalists, including Presentation College Chaguanas, Naparima Boys’ College, and St. Mary’s College, securing a comfortable win.
The students, along with their teacher, appeared on the Good Morning Tobago Show to share their experience and insights from the national debate. Their success highlights Bishop’s High School’s commitment to fostering critical thinking, research, and public speaking skills among its students.
