Aligning revenue authority with the law

Finance minister Colm Imbert states deliberation continues on how the new revenue authority should be rolled out in Tobago for taxes to be collected by T.H.A.

The rollout of the newly established Revenue Authority of Trinidad and Tobago is presenting challenges regarding tax collection in Tobago from Customs and Excise. According to the THA Act of 1996, all taxes should be collected by the Tobago House of Assembly. However, Finance Minister Colm Imbert noted that the revenue authority has not yet determined a mechanism for this to occur, as the THA’s finances were discussed at Parliament’s Standing Finance Committee for fiscal 2025.
