Paralympic silver-medallist Akeem Stewart welcomed home.
The Division of Community Development, Youth Development and Sport welcomed silver-medallist Paralympian Athlete Akeem Stewart home at the ANR Robinson International Airport from the Paris Paralympic Games. Akeem Stewart won the silver medal in the men’s discus throw with a 56.66m throw. Welcoming him home was Secretary and Assistant Secretary for the Division of Community Development Joel Sampson and Wane Clarke, and Assistant Secretary for the Division of Tourism Niall George. Stewart was also presented with a 100,000-dollar cheque from the Division of Community Development. Accompanying him was his coach, Wade Franklyn, Technical Sport Director Sean Aberdeen, Planning and Development Officer – Administrator’s Office Ricia Ali-Lindow, his family and many more. An ensemble of community-based cultural practitioners from the Division of Tourism did Tobagonian, Afro-Caribbean, Calypso and Folk Performances to welcome him back home.
