Trinidad and Tobago Gains Access to US$135 Million GEF Fund for Nature-Based Solutions

T&T is one of 15 countries with access to a US $135 Million Blue and Green Island Integrated fund through U.N.D.P. And G.E.F.

June 4, 2024 – Trinidad and Tobago is one of 15 countries that now has access to a significant US$135 million fund, provided by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Global Environment Facility (GEF).

This initiative, called the Blue and Green Islands Funds, was officially launched during the just concluded 4th International Small Island Developing States (SIDS4) Conference in Antigua and Barbuda. The fund aims to expand nature-based solutions to actively combat environmental degradation and protect crucial natural assets. This access marks a significant opportunity for Trinidad and Tobago to boost its efforts in environmental protection and sustainable development.
