With elections in the air, so are the accusations about who is to blame for Tobago’s struggling tourism industry. However, the Tobago Hotel and Tourism Association president, Alpha Lorde, argues that their biggest challenges now stem from the ongoing State of Emergency and Caribbean Airlines’ failure to support the island effectively. He also cautioned that while major projects like a new airport terminal and the promised Sandals resort are positive developments, they may not be what the industry needs most at this time.
