Not yet inviting election observers

Prime minister Dr. Keith Rowley says it is too early to determine if election observers should be invited.

Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago – Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley has accused the Opposition of being overly eager for the election bell to be rung while responding to a question about inviting election observers.

With Trinidad and Tobago expected to hold its general elections in 2025, the Opposition has criticized the government’s reluctance to invite regional and international observers during the 2020 elections. However, Dr. Rowley did not confirm whether he would adopt the same stance for the upcoming elections. His response highlights the ongoing political debate surrounding electoral transparency and fairness in the country.
