The President of DXL Promotions, Quincy Trim, mentioned that the Charity Olympics originated four years ago. During that time, the organization’s members collectively decided that entertainers should be given the opportunity to collaborate on charitable events. Since then, there has been notable growth in attendance.
“So even before DXL we has something called comcare which meant community care with the same members we started it in 2013 when most of us graduated college and now that we have a larger vehicle we wanted to do something to give back to the community, fun fact dxl is actually a ngo so all our profit goes back into the community and Tobago so this is just one of many activities more public activities that we do to give back.”
Trim noted an increase in participants compared to previous years, with everyone opting to unite in support of one common goal for this time of the year. Trim expressed satisfaction with the organization’s developmnet and extended an invitation to other Tobagonians involved in similar events to participate or even initiate their own. He continued by stating their aspiration to continue organizing such events beyond 2023.
“I feel like activities like this really brings together the community but is really also a networking opportunity for the businessmen as well we have service providers and entertainment men and outside of that we can really hang our hat on or all participating members because all our business owners are young shows that we can come together for something in the community and these events are needed.” DXL’s president outlines some of the innovative projects the organization has planned for the upcoming year, emphasizing that giving back should not be confined to the holiday season.
The event will take place at the Bucco Integrated Facility, and although admission is free, attendees are encouraged to contribute canned goods.
