One Barge On Track
Sand barge will soon resume operations after being wrecked
Sand barge will soon resume operations after being wrecked
On February 8th, the rope pulling a barge into Barbados Bay Jetty by a tug boat snapped, causing the vessel to be tossed by waves and stuck on a rock. The barge, carrying sand and construction supplies to Warner’s Concrete Batching Plant in Studley Park, separated from the tugboat due to strong currents and waves. Some sand spilled into the water, but most material remained on board. By February 24th, the barge was afloat again and towed to Barbados Bay Jetty. Ongoing efforts ensure barge safety for prompt operations resumption.
