Frac Tanks are in Tobago and are making clean-up efforts easier
Scarborough, Tobago – February 19, 2024 – Frac tanks in Tobago are proving to be valuable assets in the ongoing beach clean-up efforts following the recent fuel spill. According to Allan Stewart, Director of the Tobago Emergency Management Agency (TEMA), frac tanks provided by Tiger Tanks Trinidad Limited are facilitating the efficient removal and safe storage of fuel spill residue from the affected waters.
Stewart confirmed that positive progress is being made, with the final anchoring of oil booms around the Gulfstream wreck for containment and extraction purposes. He praised the tremendous support from volunteers from Tobago, Trinidad, and beyond, including expert assistance from Petrobras from Brazil. The business sector’s crucial contributions of cleaning supplies and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) were also acknowledged.
Efforts are particularly focused on areas near schools to ensure a safe environment for students’ return, while all affected shorelines are being actively addressed. Despite the inherent challenges of such a large-scale environmental event, Stewart expressed optimism about the eventual completion of the oil spill cleanup in Tobago.
