Following a surge in traffic congestion, near-miss collisions, and dangerous road behaviour over a bustling weekend of major cultural and entertainment events, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) and its Traffic and Highway Patrol Branch have strongly condemned reckless driving across the sister isles.
Law enforcement authorities reported a sharp rise in road infractions—including excessive speeding along narrow corridors, driving under the influence (DUI), overtaking on solid lines, and unauthorized shoulder driving. With peak holiday travel and weekend nightlife drawing heavy vehicular movement between event venues and coastal hotspots, police have announced a heightened islandwide crackdown and zero-tolerance enforcement.
