Police Are Searching for the Perpetrator Who Chopped Off a Man’s Hand During an Altercation in Scarborough

August 19, 2025- Scarborough police are investigating a brutal attack at the Scarborough Esplanade late last night that left a young man severely injured. The victim, identified as Derrick Williams, sustained multiple chop wounds during the violent incident. Reports indicate that Williams’ hand was severed, and he also suffered additional injuries across his body. According to preliminary information, Williams was involved in a heated altercation with an unidentified suspect shortly before the attack.

The suspect, who fled the scene immediately after, remains at large. Williams was transported to hospital, where he remains in serious condition. Police have since launched a manhunt and are appealing to members of the public who may have witnessed the incident or who may have information on the suspect’s whereabouts to come forward.
