Tobagonians Concerned About Crime Spillover from State of Emergency

July 23, 2025 – Trinidad and Tobago is currently under a State of Emergency (SOE), which was officially instituted last Friday, July 18th, 2025. While the primary focus of the SOE remains on Trinidad, concerns are rising among Tobagonians about the potential impact on the sister isle.

Many residents believe it’s only a matter of time before the ripple effects of increased crime reach Tobago. While there has been no official confirmation of an increased direct threat in Tobago, the public remains on alert. This widespread concern highlights a significant community anxiety regarding crime spillover from Trinidad and the island’s preparedness under the ongoing State of Emergency.
