T&T Defence Ministry Probes Venezuela’s Claims of Paramilitary Infiltration

June 4, 2025 – Trinidad and Tobago’s Ministry of Defence has launched an investigation following claims by Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro that Colombian paramilitary groups are entering eastern Venezuela via T&T. In a media release issued on June 4, 2025, the Ministry stated that there is currently no evidence to support the allegation but emphasised that it is treating the matter with urgency. It is working closely with law enforcement and Venezuelan officials to boost surveillance and gather further information. The Ministry reassured the public that national security remains a top priority and that timely updates will be shared as the situation develops.
