Scarborough, Tobago – The Division of Food Security, Natural Resources, the Environment, and Sustainable Development reminds the public that Buccoo Reef Marine Park (BRMP) is a protected area under the Marine Areas Preservation and Enhancement Act, especially over the Easter weekend.
To safeguard this sensitive environment, the Department of Marine Resources and Fisheries, along with the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard and Police Service, will enforce safety and environmental laws. Operators of tour boats and event promoters are reminded to comply with vessel registration, insurance, and crew qualification requirements. Rules include:
Violations will result in legal action. Operators must apply in writing to the Division for special events or exemption requests. Visitors are also urged to purchase tickets only from authorized booths to ensure they support legitimate operations.
