Calls for enhanced workplace conditions, job security, and financial stability led the agenda as healthcare professionals across the island commemorated International Nurses’ Day 2026.
Joining nursing personnel and healthcare stakeholders for an interfaith thanksgiving service, Deputy Chief Secretary and Secretary of Health, Wellness and Social Protection, Dr. Faith Brebnor, announced the official release of $8 million in funding dedicated to clearing outstanding gratuity payments for nurses attached to the Tobago Regional Health Authority (TRHA). The disbursement comes alongside a firm policy pledge by the Executive Council to address long-standing labour grievances and expedite the transition of contract nursing staff into permanent establishment positions.
