Trinidad and Tobago’s Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries collaborates for spill response

The Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries is actively collaborating with TEMA, THA, and Heritage Petroleum Ltd on spill response efforts. Trained local workers are equipped with spill response techniques and safety measures. Marine assets from the National Energy Company, including the NOFI Current Buster Technology, are aiding in hydrocarbon recovery nearshore.

Heritage Petroleum Ltd responders are working diligently on mangrove and river clean-up, focusing on Lambeau Bridge 1 and Thompson River. NOFI INAK systems are being used for offshore sweep tactics. The Trinidad and Tobago Air Guard provides aerial surveillance, while the Ministry of Energy technical staff oversees operations in Tobago. International experts assess vessel conditions, wreck clearance, and salvage activities.
