Dengue cases in T&T – 1,407 with 16 deaths. 132 cases recorded in Tobago.
The Ministry of Health has reported 20 new laboratory-confirmed dengue cases, bringing the total to 1,407. Sixteen deaths remain confirmed. In its September 17th update, the ministry noted that 1,142 yellow fever notices were issued to property owners, and 53 face potential legal action for non-compliance. Meanwhile, the last count on September 13th indicates that Tobago has 132 cases. Dengue fever, spread by the Aedes aegypti mosquito, can cause fever, severe headaches, pain behind the eyes, muscle and joint pain, rash, nausea, and diarrhoea. The ministry urges those with symptoms to seek immediate medical attention. The public should eliminate mosquito breeding sites, cover water containers, clear undergrowth, clean drains, and use mosquito nets and repellent to prevent mosquito-borne diseases.
