110 Business Owners Impacted by Tobago Oil Spill: Chief Secretary Augustine Updates on Relief Efforts

Relief efforts for businesspersons affected by the oil spill to begin this Friday

Scarborough, Tobago – February 28, 2024 – In a recent press conference, Chief Secretary Farley Augustine shared updates on the ongoing relief efforts following the oil spill on February 7th in Tobago. As of late February 2024, a total of 110 business owners had been impacted by the environmental disaster.

Discussions with affected fisherfolk and fish vendors were underway to accurately assess the damage to their livelihoods. These efforts highlight the significant economic repercussions of the oil spill on Tobago’s businesses and coastal communities, as the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) works to provide support.
