The EMA reiterates its call for persons to come forward with information on the destruction of Turtle nesting sites at Turtle Beach
Scarborough, Tobago – As the Environmental Management Authority (EMA) conducts investigations into the recent destruction of turtle nesting sites at Turtle Beach, the agency is highlighting the legal consequences of such actions.
The EMA noted that, according to the Environmental Management Act, a person who knowingly or recklessly undertakes or conspires to allow any activity in an environmentally sensitive area or with respect to an environmentally sensitive species designated under Section 41, which may have an adverse impact on the environment within such area or on such species, commits an offence. This statement underscores the seriousness of the investigation and the legal framework in place to protect Tobago’s vulnerable wildlife and their habitats.
