Wasa Unveils Several Initiatives To Improve Water Supply To Various Parts Of Tobag
Following recent initiatives, WASA reports an increased water supply to various parts of Tobago. These include desilting the Hillsborough Dam, which has been restored to its original capacity of 220 million imperial gallons. According to Brian Williams, Director of Water Management Services Tobago, upgrades in Bad Hill, Plymouth, are also contributing to improved water supply. Meanwhile, Williams reported several pipeline repairs and booster station upgrades in the past year have improved service. He noted that upgrades are underway at booster stations on James Street in Goodwood and the Castara Housing Development, while efforts are ongoing to enhance service in Bloody Bay. Additional upgrades are planned for the coming year as part of WASA’s five-year water improvement plan. WASA is expected to commission its Goldsborough intake system on January 29th. In the meantime, the water utility is exploring the development of a desalination plant to address the ongoing water shortages faced by residents in Charlotteville.
