TTPS Tobago Division Strengthens Liquor License Enforcement with Targeted Training

September 4, 2025- The Tobago Division of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) is stepping up efforts to tackle unregulated alcohol sales with enhanced enforcement of the Liquor Licenses Act.

In a proactive move, senior officers and supervisors recently participated in a specialized seminar conducted in collaboration with the Customs and Excise Division. The training focused on improving officers’ capacity to identify violations, monitor compliance, and conduct effective inspections across the island.

Superintendent Mark Joseph noted that the initiative comes in response to a rise in public concerns and a growing number of enforcement operations. He emphasized the importance of equipping officers with up-to-date knowledge, especially following recent legislative amendments.

Under the updated law, offenders face penalties of up to $10,000 TT and up to three years’ imprisonment for non-compliance. The crackdown aims to reduce disorderly conduct and road safety risks often linked to illicit alcohol sales.

Authorities say the renewed focus reflects a broader commitment to public safety and building more secure communities across Tobago.
