Training Improves Wildfire Response and Forest Management
The Division of Food Security, Natural Resources, the Environment, and Sustainable Development participated in a two-day Fire Management Training on January 13-14, 2025, to enhance wildfire response and forest management. This was Led by Mr. Thomas Rick Anderson, FAO International Forest Fire Specialist, and Mr. Blane Heumann of The Nature Conservancy. On day one, theoretical training covered fire safety, weather, behavior, incident command and the use of equipment. Day 2 featured practical exercises at the Courland watershed, focusing on fire ecology and control burns. Forest Officers, Game Wardens, the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service, and other stakeholders were involved in this crucial initiative to improve natural resource management and sustainable practices.
