Tobago Tourism Secretary Tashia Burris is Appointed to the Caribbean Tourism Organization’s Cruise Committee
Tobago has made history by officially joining the Caribbean Tourism Organisation’s (CTO) Cruise Committee. It is being dubbed as a significant achievement for the island’s cruise sector by the Division of Tourism, Culture, Antiquities and Transportation. Secretary Tashia Burris was appointed to the committee during the CTO’s Council of Ministers meeting in The Bahamas on February 13th, 2025. The Division stated this marks the first time a sitting Tobago Secretary of Tourism has been named to a CTO Committee. The CTO Cruise Committee plays a key role in shaping regional cruise strategies and fostering collaboration to boost sustainable growth in the sector. Councillor Burris expressed pride in Tobago’s involvement, highlighting the opportunity to influence cruise tourism’s future and advocate for initiatives that benefit the island’s economy. She stated Tobago’s participation will strengthen its cruise industry, creating new opportunities for local stakeholders and ensuring long-term success in the competitive Caribbean tourism landscape.
