March 18, 2025 – In February, former Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley received Ghanaian yam plants as a gift from the President of Ghana, which were subsequently planted in Trinidad. Today, through Tobago East MP Ayanna Webster-Roy, some of those plants were brought to Goodwood for cultivation. She emphasised that this initiative is about more than just agriculture—it is a step toward preserving and fostering local traditions within the community. She also expressed hope for an elaborate Yam Festival to coincide with the harvest. She noted that the event not only promotes food security in Tobago but also encourages healthier dietary practices.
