Tobago Gears Up For Republic Day With Route March, Cultural Festivities, And Fireworks
September 22, 2025 -Despite recent confusion caused by a social media post from the Office of the Prime Minister’s Central Administrative Services suggesting that Tobago Republic Day events had been cancelled, Prime Minister Kamal Persad-Bissessar clarified in the House of Representatives that the celebrations are proceeding as planned.
Tobago is set to mark the nation’s 49th Republic Day on Wednesday with a full schedule of events centred in Roxborough. The highlight of the day is the traditional Republic Day Route March, which begins at 9:00 a.m. from Lammy Road, Argyle, winds through Roxborough streets up to Prince Street, and concludes at the Cyd Gray Sporting Complex carpark. Organized by the Central Administrative Services Tobago, the march will feature uniformed groups, schools, community organisations, and marching bands celebrating Tobago’s pride and discipline.
Additional activities, hosted by the Tobago House of Assembly, include a 6 a.m. 3K and 5K run, cycling events, and aerobics sessions to promote fitness and community spirit. The celebrations will continue with a cultural procession showcasing Tobago’s music, heritage, and traditions, culminating in a fireworks display at 8:30 p.m. along the Roxborough waterfront.
