Tobago Business Chamber Chairman Martin George Says It Prime Minister’s Resignation Is Bittersweet

Scarborough, Tobago – Now that the country knows Dr. Keith Rowley will step down as Prime Minister on March 16th, the chairman of the Tobago Business Chamber, Martin George, has described the news as bittersweet. He called Dr. Rowley a strong figure in governance who made significant contributions to Trinidad and Tobago.

Dr. Rowley’s resignation will come one day after the opening of the new terminal at the ANR Robinson International Airport, a project he strongly advocated for to help boost Tobago’s tourism sector. The airport is expected to handle 3 million passengers annually. However, George is skeptical about Dr. Rowley’s desire to end his tenure with the airport terminal as a legacy project. In the meantime, George is hopeful that Dr. Rowley’s successor, Stuart Young, will make a positive impact on the business community of Trinidad and Tobago. George called on Young to make the removal of the Land Licence Act a priority for Tobago.
