Ken Patrick’s annual Christmas tradition of illuminating his home in Lowlands has become a cherished local spectacle. Each year, he warmly welcomes family and friends, encouraging them to gather outside his festively adorned house, fostering a shared experience and creating lasting holiday memories for all.
“We started this project nine years ago and every year it grows as we add on extra lights and decorations to the house.” Patrick stated that the purpose of lighting up is to commemorate the holiday season, foster coziness, and lift spirits on dreary and dark days. He went on to say that using various lights and decorations allows individuals to showcase their individuality and creativity. He wants the neighborhood to participate in this tradition and have some fun.
Patrick said he normally begins preparations on December 1st and finishes by December 15th. With the assistance of two friends, he decorates his home. Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, Patrick claimed he would throw little events under the lights, but the expense of upkeep got to the point where he advised guests to remain outside.
