August 15, 2025 – The Scarborough Urban Community Council recently concluded its impactful Summer Camp, held throughout the July–August vacation period. This year’s program provided young participants with an exceptional opportunity to build essential personal and professional skills—moving well beyond the typical summer camp experience.
Instead of focusing solely on recreational activities, the camp offered hands-on training in three core areas: life skills development, digital literacy, and electrical installation. A major highlight of the life skills component was its strong emphasis on drug awareness and prevention, equipping youth with tools to make informed, healthy choices.
Organisers shared that the initiative wasn’t just about teaching technical skills—it was about building community, fostering leadership, and inspiring youth to pursue their dreams with confidence and purpose. Looking ahead, there are plans to extend this initiative into a Saturday program, giving students a broader platform to continue learning, connecting, and developing critical life competencies.
