Scarborough Abattoir Payment Change…

The Division of Food Security, Natural Resources, the Environment and Sustainable Development has implemented significant operational changes to its financial transaction procedures at the Scarborough Abattoir.

Under the new policy directive, the facility is transitioning its revenue collection framework to modernize transaction handling, enhance financial accountability, and reduce cash-handling risks on-site. Livestock farmers, butchers, and commercial meat processors utilizing the abattoir’s slaughtering and inspection services are now required to adhere to updated payment methods, including cashless transaction channels (LINX/debit card processing) and direct administrative cashier settlement, replacing traditional direct cash handovers on the slaughterhouse floor.
