Scarborough, Tobago – July 16th, 2025 – As sargassum seaweed once again begins to blanket Tobago’s coastlines, it is significantly affecting some of the island’s key tourist spots. This recurring environmental challenge has prompted the Tobago House of Assembly (THA), through the Pigeon Point Heritage Park Management, and other key stakeholders to initiate immediate cleanup efforts.The concerted action aims to preserve Tobago’s vital tourism industry and protect its marine environment from the invasive seaweed. Sargassum can disrupt marine ecosystems, hinder recreational activities, and impact coastal aesthetics, making timely and efficient cleanup crucial.
