Prime minister Dr. Keith Rowley attends CHOGM in Samoa; Minister Stuart Young will act as Prime Minister until he returns.
A media release issued by the Office of the Prime Minister today informed the public that Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley will travel to New York today en route to Apia, Samoa where he will attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) 2024. Under the theme ‘One Resilient Common Future: Transforming our Common Wealth’, CHOGM will focus on resilience in four key areas; democratic institutions upholding human rights, democracy, and the rule of law, combating climate change, economies supporting recovery and prosperity and societies empowering individuals for a peaceful and productive life. The Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, Dr. Amery Browne, and His Excellency Vishnu Dhanpaul, High Commissioner for the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to the United Kingdom, will accompany the Prime Minister to the meeting. Minister of Energy and Energy Industries and Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister Stuart Young will act as Prime Minister until Dr. Rowley returns.
