Scarborough, Tobago – Speaking at the PNM’s public meeting at the Pembroke Bridge last night, Political Leader of the Tobago Council of the PNM, Ancil Dennis, addressed the issue of autonomy.
He argued that while the candidates for the Tobago East and West seats under the Tobago People’s Party (TPP) advocate for autonomy, their two seats do not hold sufficient negotiating power to bring it into effect. His comments highlight a key point of political debate in Tobago: whether the island’s representatives need to align with a major national party to achieve their legislative goals.
