PLU Students Complete Internship in Tobago With the Division of Health, Wellness and Social Protection

Pacific Lutheran University (PLU) students recently completed a three-week internship programme in Tobago, hosted by the Division of Health, Wellness, and Social Protection . A closing ceremony on January 24th, 2025, celebrated the initiative under the theme “Building Global Perspectives for Health, Wellness, and Social Equity.” Health Secretary Dr. Faith Brebnor praised the programme for providing students with a unique opportunity to learn and grow in Tobago. She expressed hope for future exchange opportunities for the Health Division and staff at PLU. Dr. Angie Hambrick of PLU commended Tobago’s culture and community for fostering learning grounded in justice, equity, and joy. Kinesiology major Susie Roberts reflected on the experience, saying, “This community has given me the gift of peace.” The programme has been ongoing for the past 16 years.
