Tourism Secretary Tashia Burris Says Payments To Service Providers For Festivals Will Be Made When Releases Are Available
Scarborough, Tobago – January/February 2024 – The Tobago Festivals Commission owes approximately $3.2 million to service providers for several events it has hosted. This significant outstanding amount was revealed by Tashia Burris, Secretary of Tourism, Culture, Antiquities, and Transportation, during a recent plenary sitting of the Tobago House of Assembly (THA).
The disclosure came in response to a question posed by Minority Councillor Petal Daniel-Beniot, shedding light on the financial obligations related to various cultural festivals and events on the island. This issue highlights the challenges faced in timely payments to vendors and artists who contribute to Tobago’s vibrant cultural calendar.
