New THA-Approved Marine Park Committee to Crack Down on Lawlessness at Buccoo Reef
September 9, 2025- A newly approved multi-agency committee is set to take firm action against the escalating lawlessness threatening Tobago’s iconic Buccoo Reef Marine Park. The seven-square-kilometre protected area—critical to the island’s tourism and marine biodiversity—has been facing increasing pressure from unregulated vendors, unauthorized party boats, and ongoing environmental degradation. The committee, sanctioned by the Tobago House of Assembly (THA), aims to restore order and implement stronger protections to preserve the reef for future generations.
