More Oil Spotted Around Tobago

Fishermen complain that they encounter oil daily while fishing in waters around Tobago.

Scarborough, Tobago – Despite official assurances that oil is no longer leaking from the shipwrecked Gulfstream vessel, fishermen are reporting a persistent problem: they continue to encounter oil every day while out at sea.

These daily sightings are contaminating their equipment, damaging engines, and raising significant concerns about the health of the fish populations. The Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries had previously informed the nation that all of the oil was decanted from the vessel, but the accounts from fisherfolk strongly suggest otherwise. This discrepancy highlights ongoing challenges in fully containing and mitigating the impact of the Tobago oil spill.
